Holes. My kids enjoyed digging them in the backyard of our Pittsburgh home, and it drove me crazy. But today, I saw the most lovely hole. A large yellow back hoe was digging out the soil riddled with clay at the site of our new home. Finally, it has begun.

After many months of planning, the building of 104 Country Lane has started. The sides of the road were muddy but we walked back anyway to see the start of this building process. Along the way, Joel tumbled face forward into the mud. What a mess! His hands were covered as though in chocolate along with the front of his coat and pants. Tears trickled down his face as his little legs continued to carry him to the excavation site. The children and I stood their amazed. Even Joel stopped his crying and watched with great astonishment. The hole was immense...and it was beautiful. What a beautiful rainy day! It may in fact be my most favorite day this year. Thanks be to God!
